Waterbomb Festival is the largest music and water-themed festival in South Korea. It’s a music and water-themed event that focuses on hip-hop and EDM music at large. It was held for the first time in August 2015, with subsequent dates being set for the end of July every year from the following year.
At the Waterbomb Music Festival, water is continuously sprayed on the crowd and performers during music concerts. Most of the spectators also hold water guns and spray water on each other and the musicians. Like a magnificent fountain, the music venue pours out water in abundance.

What is Waterbomb Seoul?
The Waterbomb Seoul started at Jamsil Sports Complex in Seoul in 2015. Its name was simply the Waterbomb festival at that time. And it has been expanded to 6 cities in 2019, starting with Busan in 2018, Incheon, Daegu, Gwangju, and Daejeon due to its bombing popularity. As a result, Waterbomb Seoul was named after each city and differentiated in 2018.

When and where is the Waterbomb Festival?
Waterbomb Festival has been held commonly in July. Waterbomb Seoul has always been held at Jamsil Sports Complex, the symbol spot, the starting point of this festival. Due to Covid19, the event was canceled in 2020 and 2021. In 2022, Waterbomb festivals will be held in four cities in Korea, Daegu, Incheon, Suwon, and Seoul.

2022 Waterbomb Festival Ticketing
The Waterbomb Festival’s how-to-buy tickets are well-documented on the official website. However, be cautious because when tickets go on sale online, they’re quickly sold out. So if you want to go, you’ll need to buy your tickets well in advance. Because almost all of the tickets are sold out when these are released online, it’s impossible to buy them onsite.
How to get to Waterbomb Seoul
The easiest way to get to Jamsil Sports Complex, where Waterbomb Seoul is held, is by subway. You can take line 2 or 9 to Sports Complex Station and walk for about 10 minutes. There are also many buses that go there, so you can check the website for more information.
Waterbomb Festival Lineup
The Waterbomb Festival is famous for putting up a line-up of skilled hip-hop artists and renowned EDM DJs with sexy costumes and spectacular performances.
Every year, the artist lineup is announced by two competing teams. The audience also picks a team and purchases tickets. Water fighting is the main attraction, therefore it requires elements involving a confrontation. The team is split into two colors. Starting in 2015~16, they were divided into blue and red teams. However, starting in 2018, green and yellow are used as team colors instead of blue and red.

Waterbomb Festival Preparation Tips
Swimsuit
Participating in the Waterbomb Festival is like falling into the water. You should bring a swimsuit, a rash guard, beachwear, or clothing that is suitable for getting wet in any form.
There are luggage storage and changing rooms at the Waterbomb festival area. It’s a good idea to bring a waterproof bag, since everything you have might get wet, including phones.
Many participants wear goggles in preparation for an intense water gunfight. Slippers can be slippery and dangerous, so it’s good to wear shoes that don’t take off easily, such as aqua shoes, and can get wet.
Waterbomb Festival also has a variety of merchandise on sale. Sunglasses, goggles, hair bands, rash guards, and other items are just a few examples of the goods sold. Merchandise sales vary from year to year, so it’s best to pay a visit to the MD booth during site visits.
Water gun
However, water guns are an exception. having a water gun on hand ahead of time is a good idea. The MD booth at Waterbomb Festival has more pricey items for sale, and your favorite goods may not be available. It’s better to have your preferred water gun ready ahead of time.
